I find it dull. What do you guys think? I especially hate the Aztecs, since they're barbaric idiots who thought that presenting Huitzilipochtli with a human's blood would keep the world going (the idea behind their human sacrifices).

yeah I don't like south american history very much. But they did invent chocolate and popcorn :O And the aztecs are named after the worst car ever produced in history (it was voted so by MotorTrend magazine).

Mesoamerican history isn't South American history. >_>

Mesoamerican history is the history of (essentially) Central America.

Oh lol. I thought they were the same thing. I haven't taken a class on non-american history in forever so I'm forgetting chunks of it.

Yup.

But Mesoamerican history isn't only the Mayas and Aztecs. In fact, the Aztecs as we know them are a small part of another large group called the "Aztecs" who originated in Aztlan. The Aztecs we know are the Mexica part of the Aztecs.

In Mesoamerica, there were the:

-Olmec
-Mixteca
-Zapotec
-Teotihuacanos
-Toltecs
-Mexica (Aztec)
-Maya
-Tlaxcalans
-Oaxacans

And MANY, MANY, MANY others.

No, all of those aren't Aztecs. They're just indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica. There were 7 Aztec groups from Aztlan, and they were the:

-Xochimilca
-Tlahuic
-Acolhua
-Tlaxcalan
-Tepaneca
-Chalca
-Mexica <-------Aztecs as we know them

Man, they were not stupids, it was the custom in the XV century.
In this continent (the new world) people didnt hadf the technology and so, for them, an earquake, or even a volcanic eruption were unknown facts so, they used to blame their gods.
They sacrifice to Huitzilipochtli when warz but when not, they sacrifice to Tonatiuh

I know: the Mesoamericans were completely isolated from Europe until Cortes, but still.

But when they'd practice human sacrifice, it would be for Huitzilopochtli, since he'd lose blood every day, and the blood from the human would be offered to him so the sun could keep revolving.

While I did find it pretty boring and rather savage, you do have to appreciate the enormous cities they made and all that.
And whatever DID happen to those Mayans...?
O.o
