Basically Odysseus's list
- pudgypig (i don't think i've ever played him)
+ spider (if that's what he called himself)

Meh, Spider was like me. He knew his stuff, but wasn't on the same level as mara and those guys. In all honesty, I only consider Mara, Gus, and f1ip to be true pros.

In that order.
I feel as though I am forgetting a few players.

I wish. Not counting that short while f1ip was playing in 2007 when he told me he didn't have the same passion for the game anymore I was better than f1ip and Mara for about a week.

I think it would be helpful for each person who posted a list to explain how he judged the players. It would make it easier to understand why each person structured the list they way they did.

They way I judge skill in terms of who was best is not by the total number of wins vs. losses. Instead, I just base it on who won against other pros overall. There is a problem with this because some of the old pros (i.e. Mara and Flip) didn't play after we made new discoveries in the game and I don't know where they would stand if you were to actually play them at their best, so I guess it would partially have to do with such things as the capacity of a player to adapt to new strategies quickly and efficiently, spell casting time, monster management, crystal management, and creativity.

Gus, I put you first because Mara and Flip quit early and never really learned some of the new stuff that you were employing later on. You also had shown to have one of the longest streak of going undefeated with only a few losses here and there in which you still vastly overpowered everyone else for a long period of time. You also spent a lot of time just training on wifi against practically everyone.
I put Mara beneath you because he probably should be the number one player of all time, but he quit early and sacrificed that position. Flip is pretty close to Mara and skill, but I don't think he is quite as good, so i put him underneath.

I have separated the list into three distinct tiers. Ranks 1-3 are Top Pros, Ranks 4-6 are Mid-Pros, and Ranks 7-10 are Low Pros. Each of the ten players on the list have distinguished themselves as displaying extraordinary talent in the game. I recognize that my list is imperfect because I am probably forgetting a few key players, but this is essentially my first draft. I might edit it later on.

After the top three of the list, it really just comes down to who beat who more often because all of us were pretty close in skill level. From ranks 4-6, I just ranked the players in order from who won the most and by the standings at the end of the time period in which we were all playing. While it is true that the positions could have changed again, the fact of the matter is that I stopped playing and lost a lot of skill because I was out of practice and I never got a chance to really challenge my way back up the ladder. It is the same for Omega, I believe.

In low rank, the players are judged the same way as i judged the mid rank players. I know I am forgetting a few people and I may be confusing pudgypig with another player. The low rank tier is probably flawed, but these players do deserve recognition as being very good.

Mara and f1ip were CONSTANTLY changing up and adding to their game. One time I was able to win a few times with abusing sleep and falling sky then next not only are they able to completely avoid it they are using it against me. IF we did discover something huge and game changing which we didn't what makes you think they wouldn't have adapted.

If Mara and f1ip quit early I must have quit really early considering I stopped actively playing Wi-Fi in late August 2006 and had my last pro level set with them in late September 2006.

That long run you talk about was really just for 3 months. It was july 2007-october 2007 while Mara was able to stay in that top spot or have another run in that top spot right around the corner much longer and with better competition with both me and f1ip in our prime and later BMA.

I have no idea why MoC even brought up Edgar. He was only good if you look back way back like on launch day when everyone sucked. He'd just use swamp abyss and then send in his runemander x2 flare dragon team to destroy you. That was it. Admittedly that strategy worked but then by the time I went pro and knew how to counter that I played him and he didn't change one bit and got crushed. Like Mara said, Edgar is garbage.

well that was his strategy and he decided to use it. I guess his only downfall was that he deployed that tactic too much and never changed it.
